What a free check looks like

A made-up example. Tallowby Electrical, its website and Sam are invented, and the numbers come from our test site. A real check looks like this, with your own results and my own note.

Hi Sam,

Your after-hours number is easy to find and taps straight through to a call, which is what you want for an emergency. What I’d add first is a way for everyone else to leave a message: that’s item 1 below.

Here’s your free check of tallowby-electrical.co.nz, run on 19 October 2026. I went through every result myself.

Worth fixing

  1. Messaging and after hours: We found no way to message you on your site: no text, WhatsApp, Messenger or chat on the 3 pages we read, or among what your homepage loaded in Google’s phone test. Out of hours, the only option we found on your site for customers is the phone. It says: “For after-hours emergencies please call our on-call electrician on 021 555 019.”What would help: keep the phone for anything urgent, and add a ‘Text us’ link next to it for everything else, so a non-urgent enquiry isn’t lost overnight.
  2. Speed on a phone: On Google’s test phone, the main part of your homepage took 4.8 seconds to appear. Google counts 2.5 seconds or less as good. What would help: smaller images and less code loading on the homepage. Google’s speed report (link at the end) lists what slows it most.
  3. Fits a phone screen: Your homepage is set up to fit a phone screen, but Google’s test found 7 buttons or links too small or too close together to tap easily. What would help: bigger, better-spaced buttons and links. Google’s speed report (link at the end) lists each one.
  4. Search basics: Your homepage has no description for Google to show under your name. Without a description, Google picks some text from the page to show instead. What would help: a one-line description of what you do and where, written for the search results.

Already working

  • Customers can send you a request through a form on your site.
  • Your homepage has a phone number visitors can tap to call.
  • Your site uses a secure connection (https), and the plain http address sends visitors to it.

Your Google reviews

I searched Google Maps for “Tallowby Electrical” and didn’t find a business profile. If you have one under another name, reply with it and I’ll take a look. If you don’t, it’s free to set up, and it’s often the first thing people see when they search for an electrician nearby.

If it helps, a link to a short screen recording where I walk through your site.

Is any of this something you’d like a hand with? Just reply; one line is plenty. The check is yours to keep either way. If it’s easier to talk it through, there’s a link to a 15-minute call.

How we checked

Every point comes with how we checked it and where we saw it: the pages we read, and Google’s free PageSpeed Insights test, phone setting, run once from Google’s own servers. A single test can vary by a second or so.
